Split update notifications into tabs per Project type #1642

Boy0000 commented 1 year ago

Is your suggested enhancement related to a problem? Please describe.

Right now the updates-list is horrible to look through. Due to several projects releasing 20 versions per update (though this has been asked for in an open issue already) and that there is no split between different project types. Suggest splitting these into tabs, or some form of filter atleast to make it alot easier to track stuff

image

Describe the solution you'd like

Either have project types split into tabs, or some filter like all the actual search pages use image image

Im no UI genius but functionally this would just make so much more sense to me rather than bundling everything on one page

Describe alternatives you've considered

as mentioned above, filters

There's a similar discussion going on at modrinth/knossos#641's discussion page. Maybe it would be best to transfer and continue the conversation there?

modrinth/knossos#300 (as alluded to in this issue's description) would also greatly help with this problem, by bundling notifications from the same project.

Revisiting this as I went away for a few weeks. Came back to update my mods to find the Notification section unusable. Hundreds of notifications, full of mods/plugins releasing for 1.12->1.19.x and all 3 mod loaders and so on Creates scenarios where you get 40 notifications that you slowly have to remove

Not to single out the mod-authors here, as I believe the issue is solely with Modrinth, but this is an example of why the Notifications screen is more or less useless at this point. image

Additionally some projects have beta-builds which build per-commit. Adding to the above I would love to see another filter to remove beta-builds. Or optionally fully toggle them from being shown based on user-preference settings

yup this is being worked on as we speak

any updates on this? Seen the layout has changed abit and whilst i agree it is an improvement, being able to filter would be nice or atleast make it by default require a "show more" to show versions when theyre x long image
