Package Managemant Issues #4899

Closed onepack closed 12 years ago

onepack created Redmine issue ID 4899

Updating PhpThumbof was successful but the next update of TinyMce to 4.2.4 showed the same upgrade changelog message as the one I got for PhpThumbof. The package upgrade fot TinyMce failed after that and is now NOT installable and Not Removable. The package now Shows as Not Installed but I can still work with TinyMce.

Uninstalling the package Simplesearch works but then removing the Package with a right-click doesn't remove the package. After two cache refreshes and two new logins it's still listed.

Packages will remain in the grid, regardless of install status. This is one of those points I do not agree with, as I believe uninstalled packages and associated data should be removed from the site.

I also have submitted a recent bug issue with package management, which has some of the same symptoms as yours, but would allow the installation of a package over a "bad" package and then it would be "corrected."

Maybe this should be critical. I needed to Update the package wayfinder but this failed after 3 retries and the wayfinder status changed to uninstalled. I decided to completely remove the package first and reinstall it. I tried so by the right mousebutton menu but this fails time after time as well. I'm simply unable to Update or Remove the packages.

A workaround that solves some of the issues for me: Uninstall the package first- then re-install.. After this the package will still show uninstalled. Install again and the package will show installed with the latest version.

onepack - sorry if this doesn't help you/isn't appropriate. But I got into a similar situation today, all with packages which were from an earlier version of Revo. I just couldn't seem to get rid of them or upgrade them.

So I had to right click and select Remove Package and force it to remove. And I had to do this multiple times as it goes backwards through old versions (you may see the version number going down). Eventually you'll get rid of them all. I then cleaned up any files left behind, and started with a fresh install.

Also having cache issues - I'm going to file a bug report.

Cheers Antony. I'll give it a try!

Please close this issue as it seems irrelevant with the new package managent in modx 2.2.x
