Dear Marco,

Consider the following (ridiculous) entry:

@inproceedings{HMT, author = {Andr{\'a}s Hajnal and Wolfgang Maass and Gy{\"o}rgy Tur{\'a}n}, title = {On the Communication Complexity of Graph Properties}, crossref = {pstoc88}, pages = {186--191}, doi = {10.1145/62212.62228}, volume = {I}, part = {part 1}, organization = {Mensa}, translator = {Henri Fambuaex}, language = {Russian}, editor = {Smart T. Editor}, chapter = {13}, series = {Cool series}, number = {208}, }

It is currently laid out:

[35] Andras Hajnal, Wolfgang Maass, and Gyorgy Turan. On the communication complexity of graph properties. Russian. In Smart T. Editor, editor. Translated by Henri Fambuaex, Proc. 20th STOC. Volume I.part 1, number 208 in Cool series. Mensa. part 13, pages 186–191, 1988. ACM Press. doi: 10.1145/62212.62228 (cited on page 1).

In contrast, Plain lays this out:

[35] Andr ́as Hajnal, Wolfgang Maass, and Gy ̈orgy Tur ́an. On the communication complexity of graph properties. In Smart T. Editor, editor, Proc. 20th STOC, volume I of Cool series, pages 186–191. Mensa, ACM Press, 1988.

A few minor things:

  1. It looks like "part" appears twice; I think the second should be removed.
  2. Also, I think that part, volume, and number should appear in the order:

In my opinion, we'd like: Proc. 20th STOC, part 1, volume 1, number 208 in cool series, pages 186-191. Mensa, ACM Press, 1998.

(but this is a matter of opinion).

  1. Mensa should be before ACM Press, separated by a comma, I think.

All the best, Alex

Hi,

some comments. The original style plain doesn't know the entry language, translator, chapter and doi. I like the benefits of biblatex and so I didn't forbid this entries.

Related to your minors:

  1. The second part is related to chapter. Instead of removing you can change the string.
  2. I don't know the crossreference crossref = {pstoc88} so I can't reproduce it.

I agree with your opinion. The issue is that I must decide between the behavior of the original style and the todays expectations.

best regards Marco
