mark as complete should be default #271

"Is there a way to auto mark as finished or have the default be mark as
finished? I have an issue where users have a hard time remembering to
check the box and therefore can't submit their data without going back
into each survey."

thoughts? it seems like the common case to me...

and an idea from mitch...
"When you reach the end of the form, run the validation logic.
If validation succeeds, display a "mark as complete" checkbox (with it checked)
and a "Save Form and Exit" button.
If validation fails, display description of the error, a "jump to problem"
button and a "save incomplete form" button."

and idea from curtis

"I would suggest that since it is the lesser common act to have your
form unfinished, then have a check box item at the end saying, "Mark
form as unfinished" and it is unchecked. The result is the same, it is
just that you are requestion a clear and overt action by the user to
signify that indeed, for this form, I want it to be considered
"unfinished" as opposed to the normal, which you just normally assume
it is finished. You put a sign on the bathroom door saying you are
"not finished, nobody come in", not the other way around."

just as a counter point, the reason we made the checkbox in the first place was
to prevent people from sending unfinished records since originally once they
were sent they couldn't be accessed again. So the idea was exactly that they
had to specifically say, "i'm done, and ready to send".

I think in 1.1.7 you can re-open instances after they've been sent, so maybe
it's not a problem anymore.

"For what my 2 cents are worth, I think two buttons at the end of the
survey, "Finish" and "Postpone", might be the most usable. With the
default still being unfinished until the Finish button is pressed, as the
user may exit the survey early if they press the escape button or their
battery dies, etc."
