Failed to Install, requires Windows 2000 service pack 4 or higher, I am running Windows XP pro. #939

I had Google Earth on my computer PC, and wanted to upgrade. I downloaded the 
Google Earth Setup file. and started the run to install. a window with error 
message popped up. "Installation failed, needs Windows 2000 or better., with 
Service Pack 4 " 
I am running Windows XP pro on my system, but it is not being seen. I removed 
Google Earth, and now have lost all of my places and Google Earth. what can I 
do. I can not even install Window 2000 service pack 4. Now what. If this canot 
be resolved, I will have to remove all my Google programs, and replace with 
Microsoft, IE. Chrome, Google +, Gmail, Google drive, and Picasa. Please help, 
as I also love flying with GEFS. I await your speedy reply.

Is this about the desktop Google Earth application or the Google Earth Plugin?
