Information on splitting definitions

Hi, I'd like to know how to use your example. I have a big definition file and I was trying to put parameters in a separate file. I cannot understand if your example explains standard openapi syntax or if a 3rd party tool is needed to manipulate yaml files. I downloaded your definitions and I mounted them in a swagger-ui docker container but I was not able to see any definition.
