Calling direct SIP addresses does not work anymore (Siphon 3.9.2) #490

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Call SIP address i.e. 123567@test.dyndns.org

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In previous versions of Siphon on iOS 4.0 the call was successfull, now it
simply says "Call failed".

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Siphon 3.9.2 on iOS 4.2.1

Please provide any additional information below.
It would be nice if this would be working again, because so it is possible to
make direct calls without the redirection over a server, which gives mostly
better quality. Also the calls are always free. Please try to make it working
again.

PS: I love Siphon!

With Siphon 3.9.3 it seems to work. If I use WLAN everything works perfect,
including audio transmission.

But if I use UMTS there is no audio transmission and Siphon is not signaled if
the called person ends the call. If I call normal telephone numbers using UMTS
over my SIP provider it works perfectly. I have enabled the option "VoIP over
EDGE/3G" and "Enable VPN".

Can you please take a look why calling SIP adresses over UMTS/3G results in no
audio transmission samuel? Thanks in advance and also thank you for fixing the
main issue.

It seems that my UMTS/3G problems come from my provider. I have tested an other
SIP software on my iPod (Linphone from AppStore) with the same result - calls
over my SIP provider poivy work perfectly, direct SIP calls are established but
without audio transmission and signaling of the end of the call. Once testing
this constallation my VOIP router (Fritzbox 7270) crashed as a result.

To use UMTS/3G with my iPod I use the mobile UMTS WLAN router Huawei E5.

Maybe the problem is caused by the two NATs, one of the provider, the other in
the router.

I think I have to test it with my laptop and compare the results of wireshark
when it is working over WLAN and when it is not working over UMTS/WLAN. I
inform you if I have results.

If I set a STUN server in Siphon 3.9.5 it also works perfectly with UMTS/3G, so
there is no problem anymore.
