Here is a suggestion for Finder.app support.
Lots of mac people I have found put common utils on the dock. This is
because they drag a file from finder, or wherever and drop it on the dock
icon to open it or perhaps perform a task.
I was thinking, for archives, this could have obvious benefits.
If you drop a single or collection of zip files, the default action could
be to extract them all to the same location on the disk they currently occupy.
If you drop a single or collection of mixed format files, the default
action would be to create a zip file, perhaps either auto-select a name, or
prompt for a filename, then create it.
Then you could add options in the preferences which would then let the user
decide whether they would like to have the choice to decide the file format
on creating an archive file. or whether the defaults would be ok.
you could have the following options
1. destination of extraction
a) same as zip
b) override to desktop/documents/custom location
2. default compression format
Then you would have an awesome program. I hope it helps you!
