shows more free applications but not paid apps #12

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

On a rooted HTC Hero, I've terminated the market, cleared the cache and
rebooted. Then ran the market enabler which finished the process successfully
and when I opened the market again, I saw more free apps I didn't see before
but no paid apps.

Any ideas?

No idea, normally the people have problems in seeing protected apps but what you
describe would mean that you can see "free" protected apps but not any pay app.
Have you tried a wipe of your image or maybe using another image?

Thanks for replying.

I'll try different images and let you know.

Which image are you using? (and discover this behavior)

heheh unfortuneatly not sure but I think cm-hero-recovery. anyway I can check
to know
for sure?

Didn't meant the recovery image...
As I don't have a hero (only a ADP1) I don't know what images exist for hero
but if
others have the same problem with the same images they will find this issue with
google ;-)

Btw. if you just followed the rooting tutorial from magnus, you still have the
stock
image.

I just see a lot more apps which I have never seen before (I double checked on
that, I couldn't see some before, and now I can).

For example Pac-Man (Namco)(free version) is available only in the US, so I can
see
that one now :)

matteikr...: Can you give an example of a protected app?
If you activate the german market you should see RadAlert, which is only on
German
Market and is a free protected app.

Which country are you from?

Possibly you can't see protected/paid apps but the market detects the fake
network.
I heard this from other people and it was always a image based problem.

I did have this too once with an older JF (Market worked before but then stopped
working with this JF version but worked again with latest JF version) image and
the
original HTC image.
Solution was taking another image.

I am from Belgium. I faked my region to US with your app.

If I flash a stock image do I lose my root? I am willing to try that if I keep
my root!

And if I use the stock image can I execute the Market Enabler as root?

Don't know what happens if you flash the stock image.
If you are willing to try another rom, you could try JF's rom or JF4C (jf
derivative
that I use, http://www.digital-bit.ch/wiki/index.php/T4c%27s_modded_JF_1.5_ADP)

But maybe it would be a try to see if a simple wipe solves you problem.

In any case, make a Backup of your system if something fails.
(On German but should be understandable: http://www.2030.tk/wiki/Android_Backup)

I just wiped, before I try to install another ROM.

Do I need to install MarketEnabler 2? Or 3.0.1 ?

Original comment by matteikr...@gmail.com on 8 Sep 2009 at 12:18

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Depends on what you want ;-)
Version 2 probably doesn't work anymore because it just faked the US T-Mobile
and
there the values have changed now.
3.0.0 is a Beta version of a rewrite and 3.0.1 is the same but with fixed
t-mobile
values.
I would install 3.0.1

I just looked up whats happening on cyanogenmod and it seems that the latest
version
is 4.1.5 and you said that you have 4.0.4.
The changelog says "Fixed protected apps issue" and maybe this was your problem.
If the wipe didn't helped, you can try to install the latest rom and see if the
problem is gone in this version.

I know use the new Modaco image with the market enabler 3.0beta and It works
with the
Eplus option... I wish I could add a new option or being able to rollback to
default
settings when I want too as the Eplus settings returns my clock back in 1 hour
:( I
almost got late to work today hehe

With version 3.0.1 the US Market should work again and the restore will come in
next
version
My problem is just the time... a day doesn't have more than 25 hours ;-)

Didn't know that with the time difference because it never happened to me...
I started on coding this app from my own needs because my country is still not
enabled :-/ but as a lot of people now complained about missing a restore
function I
will soon make (as soon I have some time) v.3.1.0 with a restore function ;-)

900 Downloads in the first 3 days the app was online without actively promoting
it
was impressive and Donations to me or andrea are always welcome ;-)

Anyway I will continue to work on Market Enabler...
Actually i'm triyng to get around the shell use by using reflections and API
but if
someone knows a working way to use os.SystemProperties or another way to set
global
properties without compiling the app with the same certificate as the image has
been
compiled, just tell me.
If some image builders read this, if you want ME in your image and are willing
tom
compile it with the certificate you compile android I could give you a version
that
doesn't depend on the shell (Except how to clear the vending cache trough API
has to
be resolved)

@liorry
try V.3.0.2 Beta
I added the restore button and you can now save your initial settings, do the
market
stuff and restore the settings you saved
