Cannot select multiple voucher categories #656

Open Ashley-Butcher opened 1 year ago

Ashley-Butcher commented 1 year ago

Expected behavior

You should be able to select multiple voucher categories - i.e. eco + gift, rather than just a mutually exclusive list of voucher categories.

Actual behavior

Currently you can only select "none", "meal", "eco" or "gift"

Steps to reproduce the behavior

Configure the Mollie module :)

Environment

Our scenario is that we are contracted to accept both Eco-cheques and Gift-vouchers for a webshop in Belgium. In the Mollie portal both Eco and Gift are enabled, but in the module it is only permitted to select Eco or Gift and not offer the customers the possibility for either.

Further to this, we have a case open with customer service regarding this.

Thank for waiting @Ashley-Butcher!

Could you please clarify whether you would like to use both of the vouchers for the same product? For example, you have a product on your shop that you would give an option to sell using a voucher. And you have these two vouchers - eco and gift.

Would you like to be able to use eco and gift vouchers on the same product (one time a client uses eco, and other time gift)? Or would you like to enable eco voucher on one type of products and the gift on different products?

Please let me know, as I would like to understand your issue a bit better.

Hey @justelis22, thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

So the situation is that our products qualify for both eco- and gift-vouchers, and we have a contract currently with Monizze allowing both types. Both types have also been enabled on in the Mollie portal (linked to our Monizze contract).

So customers should be able to pay with their eco-cheque balance, and/or the gift voucher balance. As it stands now, we can only configure the module to allow 'eco' or 'gift' but not both, so it causes a lot of confusion for customers (and lost sales).

Monizze advertise us as a possibility for both for Eco-cheque cards and their Gift-voucher cards, so both should be possible.

Primarily it would already help if both options were available to the customer (i.e they can pay with eco- OR gift-vouchers), but as often happens at the end of the year customers like to zero-out their balance so if it's possible it would be nice to accept both at the same time.

I don't know what's possible with the Mollie API personally, since in the end the voucher is brokered at https://www.mollie.com/checkout/select-issuer/voucher/xxxxxx, but it's there that currently only one choice is offered, and it's linked directly to the voucher configuration in the Mollie module.

While it doesn't make sense for some combinations (i.e. meal-voucher and eco-/gift-voucher doesn't make sense), I can imagine other shops also have a scenario where both eco- and gift-vouchers are authorised by Monizze/Sodexo/etc.

Does this help clarify the scenario?

Thanks @justelis22! :)

Hi there @Ashley-Butcher,

We have talked with the Mollie team regarding this case. There could be some issues with using multiple vouchers, due to API limitations, as offering 2-3 different vouchers would be using a few different payment methods for the same order, which is at the moment not possible.

Only the initial analysis was done, so after a deeper investigation, we might find a solution.

At the moment, we have more urgent tasks planned for the Mollie integration, this might take a while to get investigated, so we would like to ask you for some patience. As soon as we have some updates, we will let you know!

If in the meantime you have some questions or comments, please do let us know :)

Hey @justelis22,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We aren't asking for support for customers to use multiple voucher types in the same order. In fact, we don't mind if this isn't possible. However, it should be possible for us to accept eco- OR gift- vouchers at the time the payment is requested. This is the only issue.

When the customer has chosen "voucher" they should then be able to select Eco- or Gift- vouchers to make their payment.

For example, we had it set to "eco" since we could only choose one, but customers then can't pay the order with gift vouchers. Likewise, we have changed it since to "gift" since we had a lot of activity trying to pay with gift vouchers, and we have lost a sale because someone tried with an "eco" voucher.

Since we are contracted for both gift and eco vouchers with Monizze, and both are enabled at Mollie, this should be possible, otherwise accepting Monizze vouchers is useless for us as it presents a very bad customer experience (= they assume our website is broken, or we have lied about accepting whatever voucher they are trying to pay with).

I doubt many customers would want to pay partially with eco- and partially with gift- on the same order, so I consider that an edge case, however I don't think it's unreasonable to want to offer the customer the ability to use either their eco-cheque balance or their gift-voucher balance from Monizze. It would be no different to offering the customer the choice between Sodexo gift- or Monizze gift- balances, for example.

If the API is not able to handle requesting eco- or gift- voucher options, then it seems to me like a design flaw that never should have happened in the first place.

Again, it's not an issue of the customer mixing different voucher types on the same order, it's about giving them the choice of one or the other. Mixing voucher types would be a nice to have, but not the problem.

I of course understand Mollie has other priorities here. We'll have to abandon vouchers or look for another payment broker who can cope with this situation.

Regards,

Hi @Ashley-Butcher,

Thank you for a very in-depth explanation of the case. I have forwarded everything to the Mollie team, we will discuss and analyze the situation internally. Once we have some updates, we will for sure let you know.
