If relevant, please answer to the following questions:
1. What version of Python(x,y) have you installed?
2.6.5.1
2. Which components have you installed (Python(x,y) installer: component
page):
    full install, as I recall

3. Have you selected the option "Customize installation directories"?
No

5. Where did you install Python(x,y) itself?
a. default path
6. Have you installed Python(x,y):
    b. For "All users"
7. What is your operating system?
a. Windows XP
8. When you installed Python(x,y), were you logged in as :
b. an administrator of the machine
10. Regarding installed softwares on your machine, how did you clean your
machine before installing Python(x,y) (multiple answers are possible):
b. you uninstalled any previous Python distribution (including the
official .msi)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. installed pythonxy
2. run the launcher (Start -> Python(x,y) -> Python(x,y))
3. under "interactive consoles", click on any of the IPython options
4. you get this error message "Cannot find Python executable
C:\Python25\python.exe"

I had python 2.5 installed previously, but it is not installed now, though the
C:\Python25 directory is still there, and has some scattered remnants left by
the uninstaller.

Perhaps deleting the C:\Python25 and re-installing will help?
