Installing Troubles

Hello

After installing python(x,y) there seems to be something wrong. The link 
does'nt work.
Trying to start up ipython, it ends with a failure "ipython.bat not found", and 
after a search on my system, there seems not to exist any file with that name.

1. What version of Python(x,y) have you installed?

   Downloaded python(x,y)-2.6.6.0.exe
   Installed "Recommanded"
   NO "Customize installation directories"?
5. Where did you install Python(x,y) itself?
a. default path
6. Have you installed Python(x,y):
    a. For "Current user only" b. For "All users"
    I tried both
7. What is your operating system?
a. Windows XP
8. When you installed Python(x,y), were you logged in as :
b. an administrator of the machine
10. Regarding installed softwares on your machine, how did you clean your 
machine before installing Python(x,y) (multiple answers are possible):
First Time:    a. you didn't do anything, you installed Python(x,y)  
                  directly on your machine without precaution
Second Try:    b. you uninstalled any previous Python distribution 
                  by using windows system uninstall

NOPE for c) an d):c. you cleaned the Windows registry by removing 
               all Python-related keys
               d. you cleaned the environment variables by removing 
               all deprecated entries
(Which are that?? What has to be done??)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download installer
2. double click it, install just what is given
3. have Problems

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I'd expect, that something happens, if I use the shortcut to python(x,y)

Well, is it really, really neccessary to remove all others Pythons from the box 
before installing the Python(xy)?
Were it so, the Python(xy) is unattainable for me as I have a whole farm of 
Pythons
installed.

Currently Python(x,y) is tied to a specific Python installation (2.7.x). You 
should be able to install it in addition to Python 3.x and others. In any case 
you should manage the PATH manually.
