Gamemode Guide: Climb History #281

To have a more accurate history there:

Climb had its origins in the early 2000’s, when players in Counter-Strike were beginning to master their bunny hops and strafe jumps to get to unintended places. A mapper named Kreedz saw this and thought of making it its own gamemode. He then created the first Climb maps, forever making him the name of the gamemode.

Well he created custom maps before creating his first climb map. Our beloved climb maps are the so called fun maps too. Where the origin had been: dimensions_b02 games_b03 the hideandseek maps pyramid_b08 or starwars_b05 which had been around 2002-2003 (Which have some sort of jump parts added, except for pyramid as a maze map). The first real climb map was kz_giantbean_b15 2002.

Funmap / Custom Map Authors had been on the verse to get noticed since who would read a readme.txt or credits.txt. So Kreedz just released all his funmaps / custom maps under his abbreviations name kz (Kreedz) to stand out of the rest of the funmaps / custom maps world.

So to be said and to make it more accurate:

forever making him the name of the gamemode.

is quite false, because it's what the players had been doing for years.

All maps who used a clan tag like _man _real _crs had been requested or sponsored from the clans / communities to have a special crafted map. Kreedz finaced his study with it.

Then he invested his time to create a timer on a entity system. He only shared it with his close friends. One who wanted to create a climb map had to submit his map to have it iterated. If it had met the requirements Kreedz would had added the timer in it. That was the early start of the KZ tag submission, which still exist to date without the need of adding the timer from Kreedz.

Do you have a more accurate description? (sorry for bump)
