Noticing other places as well: https://github.com/monarch-initiative/fenominal/blob/main/LICENSE
Starting to look at https://github.com/search?q=org%3Amonarch-initiative+LICENSE+path%3A**%2FLICENSE*++NOT+is%3Aarchived&type=code for an overall picture
I think GNU is an appropriate license for some Monarch software. I do not think we ever agreed never to use GNU?
I will put this on the leadership agenda - I think a homogenous strategy for licensing will increase our credibility as an organisation as well. @kltm would you be willing to give a 5 minute presentation at a call in the next year that explains why a coherent strategy for licenses is beneficial for Monarch, and some of the inconsistencies you found during your search?
I just noticed that the licenses here is 1) GPL and 2) copied verbatim such that it's out of date and showing that the copyright is held by the FSF.
Is there a reason for the difference in this case, instead of using the BSD 3-Clause License?
