XEN is a minimally invasive surgical procedure to treat glaucoma, a condition that can damage the optic nerve and lead to loss of vision. The XEN procedure involves implanting a small, flexible, biocompatible tube (XEN gel stent) into the eye to improve the drainage of aqueous humour, the fluid that circulates in the eye, and lower intraocular pressure. The stent is designed to create a permanent connection between the anterior chamber of the eye and the subconjunctival space. This filtering action allows for improved drainage and lower intraocular pressure.
