Did you install using your package manager? Or did you download the binary from getmonero.org?
If you used your package manager please try the getmonero.org version and report back.
I did install it through the package manager. Launching the executable from getmonero.org works fine. Thank you! :+1:
What's the issue with the package manager version, then?
I have no idea, please report this to your package manager. This is out of our control.
Thank you for support :+1: There is already an issue on the forums reporting similar: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/69738
hm, I'm the maintainer of the Arch Linux package. Unfortunately I don't have a hardware wallet to test this with (I tweeted that I'm looking for a test device a while ago but didn't get any replies).
This is how the Arch Linux package is compiled:
mkdir -p build && cd build
cmake -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -D ARCH=default ../
make
The full build log looks like this:
Any hints what might be missing? Is there a compile time check that might disable hardware wallet support? Some users in the Arch bugtracker reported running the official binary works for them, and running the Arch binary as root works too (if I'm reading this right, which is confusing).
Any hints what might be missing?
If I had to guess it's related to how Qt is compiled / installed on Arch, and not monero-gui itself.
This is how the Arch Linux package is compiled
There is no compile time option missing here.
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a misunderstanding on my part (sorry if it is :upside_down_face:).
I tried to create a new hardware wallet using my Ledger Nano S.
Steps to reproduce
I plug in my device and unlock it. Then I open the Manjaro GUI and click on "Create a new wallet from hardware". Then I try to choose the hardware device with the "Choose your hardware device" dropdown. I expect to be able to choose my hardware device, but nothing happens (only the arrow on the right indicates that the dropdown opened).
Repeating these steps as root resolves the issue.
Notes
I made sure to close Ledger Live (which works fine as a normal user). I also added udev rules, which were required to get Ledger Live to run.
System
I'm running the latest version of Monero GUI (0.17.2.2). The Ledger Nano S has firmware version 2.0.0. My OS is Linux Manjaro KDE with the Linux 5.10.42-1 Kernel (LTS).
