For which tools is the KillerBee firmware required? #3

For which tools is the KillerBee firmware required? And for which can I use the
RZUSB firmware?
The only tool that is working with the original firmware is zbid. zbfind and
zbdump fail. zbfind fails when assigning the channel number and zbdump fails as
reported in issue 1, which seems also to be related to setting the channel.

According to the slides passive operations should work with the original
firmware: "Default RZUSB firmware accommodates 802.15.4 sniffing, End Device,
PAN Coordinator"

Thanks,
Markus

Yes, all should work in passive sniffing, which includes setting the channel,
etc, using the default factory RZUSBSTICK firmware.

In issue 1, it seems to be a timing issue due to something odd with the USB
bus. Contact me via email and we'll try to fix this, and then commit that
change to the main repository. I'm unable to recreate this condition myself,
despite many tries.

Thanks!

Thanks, I am currently busy with other things. I will send you an email as soon
as I continue working with the RZUSBSTICK. You are right, it seems that it is
related to issue 1. The problem is caused by the "No error" status message.

Markus, what is the status of this issue? Email me if I can help, else I want
to mark how this was fixed for you.

Just as a note, when a function is run (ex inject, change channel, etc), the
KillerBee framework does a check to see if it thinks that operation is
supported on the specific device it is trying to execute on. If that is not
marked as supported by the hardware, an error will throw before it tries to
execute it.

Hello,

I'm having the same issue Markus had: tried both the new trunk code and the
killerbee-1.0 release but no luck...by the way, I'm also with the original
firmware for the RZUSBstick.

Any solutions so far?
