Check if Wordpress update to 5.0 works with WPML #56

As they say in WPML https://wpml.org/2018/12/wait-before-updating-to-wordpress-5-0/ we should wait until January 201:

We’ll be updating our production sites to WordPress 5.0 on January, assuming that from today and until January we’ll see only one release of WordPress and it will go out smoothly. This is the first time since our launch that we’re holding off updating our production sites to new WordPress versions.

Let's plan testing by the end of January.

I've upgraded WordPress to 5.03 in dev.globalrec.org. I've also updated WPML and WPML modules to last version. I've installed WordPress classic editor plugin to keep using the classic editor instead of Gutenberg, to avoid problems. We can test Gutenberg later.

@numeroteca can you check everything is fine with WPML?

skotperez commented 5 years ago

WPML has published a notice that said there is no compatibility problems between WPML and WordPress 5. so i've updated to WordPress 5.0.3 in globalrec.org.

Everything is ok i guess. But check anyway.

I've checked in production to edit a post, and it seems it works good with Gutenberg.

Pending: check translations interface.

Translators have been able to translate during the weekend, so that seems to be solved.

However, when editing a translated post from Spanish into English the categories displayed are the Spanish ones. See image: screenshot from 2019-01-28 15-05-39 The same behavior can be seen in French post that are translated from Spanish, and in all the other combinations.

This is not happening for the original post, which always have the correct language in the categories.

A good thing: the quick edit format has the correct language for the categories: screenshot from 2019-01-28 15-44-04

So it means it is likely gutenberg-editor-related.

When editing a translated post into French, categories are working fine now, after update.
