Most shadow problems have to do with similar triangles but I wasn’t able to set it up since there is not much information. This is the picture from what the problem gives:
The height of the light post I think is needed. Also “He is casting a shadow on the side of the building” seems vague. It is more clear to say his shadow is in front of him. I think a picture and some hints would help.
