Question / Feature request: Permanently delete posts #33

Hi I'm struggling to figure this one out, so I figured I'd better check with you if it's possible, if not then it's a feature request.

I can't seem to be able to setup a ForumNG whereby staff can permanently delete posts. I can see that it is possible to do so if the post is older than x number of months, then it can be deleted permanently; but this can't be done manually nor set the deleted posts to be purged after x months without affecting other posts.

Have I missed something? If not, could there be an option to enable teachers to permanently delete posts?

It's not possible to permanently delete posts or discussions other than using the automated method where they are older than the specified time.

I'm assuming we've never developed such functionality as its pretty unnecessary in our usage as students won't see the deleted discussions/posts anyway and storage is not an issue.

Do you mean specifically removing deleted posts (for which there is no code to specifically do this) or removing deleted discussions? What is the rationale and requirement for this feature? Removing deleted items automatically after a set amount of time seems a more sensible approach as it removes more potential for human error. At the moment I'm thinking we probably wouldn't see much benefit in this so might be unlikely to develop, certainly in the near future as we're building lots of other cool stuff for forumng.

Of course, I should have thought of checking the permissions!

Staff didn't want to see them as they found them distracting and messy when there was a quite few of them. I've changed the permissions for the teacher roles which should meet the teacher's requirements.

Ooooh more cool stuff :) Looking forward to that!
