template not copy across as 'user data' see mdl contrib-4022 on tracker #11

know that all wiki data is user data, so cannot be transferred easily without admin permissions, but is it also the case for template files?

Not transferring the template means that backup and restore basically isn't an option (it will only give you a blank wiki, same with duplicate btw) and you need to manually create all wikis again in new course to apply template file.

is this a bug?

It does sound sensible to try and copy across the template and recreate the initial wiki state (when user data is not selected).

Unfortunately, at present the template is thrown away after use - so there is no way to do this currently.

We will look into this for a future version as it certainly seems useful functionality.

this fix would certainly be very useful for us migrating content between Moodles 1 & 2 this summer.

You'll be pleased to know that this has been addressed and will be included in the next wiki release in June (will be in GitHub in the next few weeks). We have made some changes to templates to improve them (supporting images) and have some more plans in the pipeline to add some further functionality to make the process of using them much easier.

any news on this ... we have a Moodle release in 10 days and just wondered if the code was on github yet?

note, I think this is OU issue 6319. Probably.

I don't think it is, the version is the same as the one we downloaded before I posted above (2013020700) and there haven't been any commits relating to this issue.

Oh. Uh, that would probably because nobody asked me to run the script to update the public repositories! Sorry. I've run the script now - you should see the new commits including 6319.
