Very odd indeed; do you have a Firefox crash report link? If you go to about:crashes in that Firefox it should be able to get you things.
It doesn't seem to happen with 20101102 3.6.13pre at least, which is the latest nightly on that branch... Nor 20101026 3.6.12pre, which should be the last one before the release of 3.6.12...
(I'm picking things with zip files rather than installers, of course.)
Is GMail Manager setup to check things on startup? Any interesting plugins (rather than extensions)? Anti-virus? Firewall?
Hey mook...i will reply back asap with all the details...But for now:
1) Yes GMail Manager is setup to check things on startup..after about 5 secs it crashes firefox..Even when i deinstall and reinstall it seemst o always have the config in it..i will have to navigate and kill this folder and check if it still crashes firefox when i connect manually.
2) I disabled all plugins but kept only that one on and it still crashed.
3) No firewall, or anti virus of any kind.
4) Using Windows 7.
5) When it crashes i have to manually close Firefox..so in fact this tells me it is stuck in some kind of internal dead-lock and spassing out the CPU. So really, i guess it isnt crashed but misbehaving. I will get more serious and get back to you ASAP.
Should be fun. And thanks for updating this plugin. Man, i hope you dont stop doing updating this plugin...its great!
UPDATE --
Hey Mook...ok i did some tests and discovered what the problem is...
It seems if a GMail account still has Buzz enabled then it ends up crashing your plugin. I remember this was an issue way back with the original GMail Manager (resulted in not showing unread count) and one just needed to disable it. I totally forgot to disable it in my 3rd account and hence what was causing the problem. I didnt realize it would lock up Firefox though.
So, it doesnt crash...it is just stuck in some internal infinite loop in your code...easily resolved by just letting people know to "Turn Off Buzz" (click the "Turn Off Buzz" link at the bottom of GMail). That will do it.
Ah, okay. Reopening to look at buzz interactions at some point. Thanks for figuring that out! Obviously, I'm not using buzz in any of my accounts...
Yea i say dont bother looking into the buzz issue any time soon -- no one uses it (lol). I figure anyone who has a problem with it will just ask in the forum and we will let them know. I think Google still enables it by default for new accounts (that is how i discovered it -- useless feature).
Thanks again...and tons of people are thanking you too in the forum.
This can be closed -- i fixed the bug for ya...i sent you the necessary code change.
This plugin immediately crashes Firefox upon launch.
I am using Windows 7 and FireFox 3.6.12...i have disabled all other plugins and it still crashes. Very odd.
