This idea has a good intention, but raises questions:
Shouldn't a device that is lost be regarded as tampered with
?
How can the anonymity of both the owner and the finder be protected?
The finder could send the device to Mooltipass HQ, which then checks it for tampering, warranty, replacement and so on.
If the finder chose to keep and connect it to Moolticute, the application could then recognize the lost device and
Missing feature
If you lose your device there should be the option to display your address or some other information on the lock screen. How should it work?
If you start or wakeup the Mooltipass you gonna see the start screen. If you don't insert the card after 10-15 seconds the Mooltipass ask if you found the device. If you prompt yes the screen displays the information.
There is a other way as well: The https://www.themooltipass.com/ website is engraved on every device. I don't know how to use this device or what it is so I gonna look it up online. On the website there should be a new page Lost & Found. When you go onto it you're able to enter the serial number and a message. The owner of the device can register his device online and set up a password. If he lost the device the owner is able to enter the serialnumber and password. After that he is able to see if somebody send a mesage to this serialnumber. You can also do that by email.
Justification
Right now there is no way to find out who is the owner of a lost mooltipass. I don't know If you're able to contact the owner with the SN.
