I took the screenshots before hibernation. After hibernation there wasn't
change in
the control panel applet.
I updated the driver to version 1.2.5.0 and the BIOS to the latest stable
version.
This didn't solve the problem.

ok, that excludes some errors. Have you tried to play around with the volume
sliders?
If everything fails, disabling and enabling the sound card in the device manager
should do the trick.

Yes. There wasn't noticeable effect.

Unfortunately, Windows do not allow to disable the sound card without a restart.
I restarted the Windows Audio service (AudioSrv). This also did not have
noticeable
effect.

A trick for circumventing this might be to "update" the driver to force a
reload cycle.
I haven't got a test platform with Windows 2k3 - I'll try later to reconstruct
the bug with XP, Vista and 7.
