Elite Dangerous 64-bit error #291

Closed ECS1 closed 6 years ago

ECS1 commented 8 years ago

Moonlight streams the 32 bit exe perfectly (also the combat tutorial).

But when the Elite 64 bit exe or Horizons is started, I get this error: "Elite Dangerous executable has stopped working"

This only happens when trying to stream. Normal game works fine using the 64 bit executables.

Tried everything I could think of. Been at this for a few days now but can't troubleshoot it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

After some more thinking, got it to work by uninstalling GFE 3.0.7 and installing 2.11.4. I disabled nvidia network service and disabled all nvidia updates.

It is serviceable but not perfect. You need to launch ED Horizons thru the steam big picture (automatically appeared in moonlight). In steam, launch the game then alt-tab to the ED launcher (moonlight will lose focus and disconnect), click "play" in the launcher and wait for the game to launch (alt-tab if in background). When the game is in the foreground, resume the connection from moonlight, everything should work correctly, except sometimes moonlight loses focus and you have to resume again.

It is working fine now with android VR with moonlight, GFE 2.11.4, and opentrack (gyro headtracking mode). I have it in SBS mode (double vertical res and 1.25 supersampled with fxaa antialiasing). Stream latency at around 27ms @ 1080p30 (snapdragon 615).

Waiting for nvidia to fix their new GFE software. Why change it anyway? Hope this helps others.

Just an update... With the combination of the latest GFE 3.1.0.52, Nvidia 375.70 driver, and Elite Dangerous 2.2 patch, Moonlight now streams everything perfectly, both 32 and 64 bit versions. Looks and feels very good!

I was also pleasantly surprised that the built in Elite SBS mode now works correctly with near proper aspect ratio for Cardboard (using a custom 1920x2160 res). Together with Freepie and Opentrack, this eliminates the need for Riftcat for now, besides, Moonlight always had far better quality of video. I am not sure if this works because I also have a full version Riftcat Vridge installed (which forces the game in HMD mode temporarily before the user sets it to SBS. Somebody confirm this without Vridge.
