Stuttering in Gaming mode (Steam Deck) #1191

Describe the bug In gaming mode, I can have as ideal a connection as possible (streaming from wired desktop, 12900k, 4090) to my Steam Deck OLED but I get some really obvious stuttering on the Deck. Without changing anything other than switching to desktop mode, I get a smooth stream. If I enable v-sync and frame pacing in Moonlight, I get a smooth stream in gaming mode, however this introduces lag. The Moonlight overlay reports no dropped frames, average decoding of around 2/3ms.

Steps to reproduce Just ensure V Sync and Frame pacing are off in Moonlight.

Affected games All games

Other Moonlight clients My laptop and S23 are perfect when streaming.

Moonlight settings (please complete the following information) No adjustment of setting in Sunshine or Moonlight other than testing various v-sync settings. Tried various v-sync settings on my PC too, including turning g-sync off.

Post a phone camera recording, not sure what type of stuttering you are getting.

I apologise for how terrible the quality is:

Hopefully you at least get the gist.

With V-Sync enabled in Moonlight its perfectly smooth.
