When I start OBS Studio Moonlight completely hangs. #846

Describe the bug When I start OBS Studio Moonlight completely hangs.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Starting Moonlight.
  2. Launch OBS Studio.
  3. Moonlight completely hangs.

Affected games Happens to all games.

Is the hang only while streaming or does it just hang even in the normal UI?

It just hangs when I just open OBS. And it's the picture that hangs, but the sound works.

I meant streaming with Moonlight, not OBS. Does it hang at the game selection UI or just while playing?

I will describe it in as much detail as possible.

I have two computers. One has Linux and the other has Windows.

I run the game on the windup. On the linux I run the moonlight. When the moonlight is running and connected, I open OBS on the computer with linux. After that, the picture in the moonlight hangs, but the sound is. Sometimes everything hangs on the linux. Only alt+tab and sound work, mouse cursor also stops working.

But most of the time only the moonlight hangs and I end the process and start again.

On a Windows PC, sometimes everything is fine, and sometimes you have to reboot it, or moonlight hangs immediately when reconnected.

Maybe a problem you're asking too much from the GPU? You could try to change OBS encoder settings, try to set these lower and maybe in moonlight the bitrate at a lower setting.

It has nothing to do with parameters and performance.

Ok... it seems to me it has nothing to do with moonlight either. When you look at the wiki you could see a list of software that can interfere with GeForce Experience. OBS might be one of these.
