Epic games not launching/reinstall issues #347

I installed hoyoplay and epic, however, only epic didn’t work. The error is that epic wouldn’t launch. It was installed and added to my steam library, but wouldn’t launch.

I changed my proton version multiple times, and eventually uninstalled to see if that would work. However, it wouldn’t reinstall, and I reset my deck.(I recently reset my deck, so there wasn’t anything on there) However, it won’t even install now.

So it turns out my WiFi was really awful, and the curl commands were failing. If you encounter a similar issue, check your output log for any fails or errors.

however, epic games still doesn’t launch.

To be clear, hoyoplay and epic are both installed. But epic doesn’t run, while hoyo play has no issues.

@ArchknightO-O ah yeah it looks like your log, nothing was downloading, im glad you got it fixed though, ill try to add more checks for curl commands in the next update to handle that scenario. when you say epic doesnt run is compatability checked with proton?

ArchknightO-O commented 1 month ago

I did make sure it was checked, and I checked geproton-9 and a whole bunch of proton types

@ArchknightO-O grab the latest. Desktop file and run it and press stop scanner and then press yes to activate it again. I found a bug last night and updated the actual .desktop file. Let me know if that helps you.
