Māori rebels are supposed to turn New Zealand into Aotearoa when they enforce—the only way for the country to appear. While this is likely meant to be rare, it doesn’t seem to be happening at all. Possible leads:

It’s not clear however at which point New Zealand gets flagged as such—unlike many colonial countries, it is not marked so in its history files. It gets flagged for sure when released as a dominion, but that’s no earlier than historical 1907. Perhaps that system is meant to reflect the evolving status of New Zealand, but if Aotearoa is meant to appear as early as the Flagstaff war (in case of an early New Zealand release) then something is up.
