The ability to pass an ordering function was added with 490325f4ba8ea22d8506470d8bf0e6716022e93e, and the function pyrolite.geochem,ind.by_incompatibility
(based on ratios of element abundances between continental crust and primitive mantle) added with e23c75d2265461e8bda2fb67b0e50c071dec1e78. The current spider docs example illustrates how these ordering functions can be passed and used.
While the elemental and oxide indexes/selectors are practically useful for subsetting dataframes, indexes based on 'incompatibility' are often used for visualization and tabulation of geochemical data (especially for spiderplots). Being able to specify element ordering or access an 'incompatible element' selector would be a useful feature.
