please double/triple check your
* number (including the prefix) (+491601234567)
* the prefix (+49)
* your gmx sms "freischalt code"
please make sure you allowed gmx "lastschriftverfahren" with your bank account
set.
if nothing helps, please deinstall the connector and reinstall it.
some user had this problem a month ago, and that helped ;(

Checked / verified:
- number (including the prefix) (+491601234567): checked / OK
- the prefix (+49): checked / OK
- your gmx sms "freischalt code": checked / OK
- lastschriftverfahren: OK (for years)
- connector reinstalled
> the same error message
The quota / "Guthaben" is shown so I suppose the basic connection to GMX is OK.
Over which Port does WebSMS communicate with GMX? I'm using the T-Mobile data
option HandyFlat where only standard http-ports are allowed.

it is using standard https, i think there is something broken while
bootstrapping.
the problem is, that the api is not well documented and far away from very open.
i know the developers (the authors of androidpit.de), but they do not want to
help :(
i had similar issues every now and than..

please check if manually adding your customer id in gmx prefereneces does help.
you'll find the id in the url of the web version of the gmx sms manager.

i am encountering the same problem.
i have been using gmx conector for months now. troublefree. even switched
between 2 differnt gmx accounts for more free sms...
i was using a klarmobil data flat then.
i just now switched to alditalk and installed everything for that one. changed
the cell nr. on websms and on gmx platform.
also got that error message that i need to be registerd with provider.
never seen this message before, tho.
is it possible that it has to do with alditalk (eplus). had to do a workaround
for tethering also just lately which wasnt the case with klarmobil (o2)
any ideas, suggestions?
thanks

have to add, that betamax is not working either. it did befor no probs.
would like to try to unistall the connector. how do i do that??
another ps: funny is, that the balance count on gmx would show the correct
number of sms left...
i set both connectors to use default sender provided by websms. cant see what
number this is, tho. using defined sender (with the very cell no. i'm using
from alditalk) --> same same
dunno what else to test. please let me know how to uninstall the connector
thanks

well, this is really a strange behavior.
did you try wifi to check whether eplus is blocking something?
what message is betamax throwing?

Hello Felix,
a reinstall of both, the software itself as also of only of the connector
didn't help.
I also use a second provider (internetcalls.com) with the betamax-connector,
like an3a75 describes. Perhaps there's a incompatibility of these two
connectors?
@an3a75:
It's off topic, but sonding sms with the betamax connector works fine for me.

I had the same problem as cyberkuki. I've found this tutorial (in german):
http://www.ormus.info/archives/489-SMS-guenstig-versenden-unter-Android.html
There are actually two "Freischaltcodes" in GMX: One for the SMS-Manager (and
the GMX Connector) and one for your mobile number (to use your number as
sender). I forgot to unlock my mobile number :-( (last sentence of the
tutorial). Now WebSMS is working fine.
BTW: WebSMS was the reason for me to buy an android phone :-) Great Work!

No, this is not the reason for my (our?) problem(s).
This number was / is OK in my GMX SMS-Manager.

@cyberkuki:
are you use "Standardabsender nutzen" or "Anderer Absender" at gmx-connector
settings? Standardabsender works fine for me - always.
Original comment by And...@gmail.com

just to be sure:
all of you, are using the "gmx freischaltcode" from downloadpage of the windoze
version. the code received as sms is *not* the one you should use.
and:
who of you is using a custom sender configured in gmx's settings?
Original comment by felix.bechstein
on 24 Sep 2010 at 5:09
@AndyNE:
Of course "Standardbenutzer nutzen".
@felix:
Yes, the "Freischaltcode" from the download page.
I'm using the custom sender in gmx settings (my "+49160...." mobile number).
@all:
Isn't it a "German" GMX issue? We could swith the language to German! :)

i've tested it with "Anderer Absender" @ G1 Android 1.6 CyanogenMod 4.2.15.1
and it's works too.
works with its own, confirmed mobile number. not text as sender, but gmx
supports it with the "GMX SMS-Manager". if the sender-number is wrong, not
confirmed or not a number you get a good error information (flash or/and in
taskbar).

I had the same issue. I can send sms's using Betamax, including correct caller
ID.
The problem occurs 100% when sending double sms'es (more than 145 characters)
Short sms'es are ok.

@adriaan: are you referring to betamax or gmx?
if it's betamax: please create a new issue (or look if there is some matching).
as betamax is done by some other dev than me ;)

I've tried to inactivate the betamax connector. Still the old error message
sending over gmx. then I tried the "anderer absender". the same. :(
any new ideas / solutions & workarounds?

sorry for taking so long to put consent:
i was playing around with different providers and sim-cards and it looks to me,
that it has to do with the provider (talking about gmx-connector)
for klarmobil (02-network) it worked hassle-free even without the correct
number in gmx-online-platform, same with betamax.
with alditalk (eplus network) it works now, but only since i put the phone
number of the respective sim-card as mobilenumber in webSMS as well as confirm
it in the gmx sms-manager. here it also only works when "default sender" is
checked. custom sender does NOT work.
same same with betamax. i had to verify my actual phone number within the
voipcheap client and use it as ID. works now just fine. but also can not use
custom sender.
so I am guessing, that there's something within the respective network that
prevents us from using some features that are provided by webSMS.
I hope this could help some of you. for me: CASE CLOSED. i just have to stick
to that one phone number now and I'll be fine :)
Thanks Felix for this nice Prog and your help!
PS: doesn't seem to ba a geman problem only. had the same using gmx and orange
in spain

Same problem here since I got a new mobile. I entered the correct data, the
remaining free sms are showing in the app but when I try to send an sms it
tells me "Absender muss bei Deinem Provider registriert sein". BTW: Installing
the PC version of SMS manager does not work either. "Autorisierungsserver down".
Did GMX kill this service without notice?

Having the same problem with the GMX Connector ("Failed to send SMS: GMX:
Absender muss bei Deinem Provider registriert und bestätigt sein.") as well as
having AldiTalk I was afraid that it would never work.
But now, I found a solution that is easy and works fine. After not being able
to kill the problem by checking the number even hundreds of times, I simply
installed "GMX SMS-Manager" to my computer and registered the number I am using
with my Android. And... Now it works perfectly.

No, it doesn't work here.
I have the same issue with "Failed to send SMS: GMX: Absender muss bei Deinem
Provider registriert und bestätigt sein.". I think this was first triggered
when I registered my mobile phone number with gmx. The GMX-SMS app is working
without problems.

Sorry for posting again.
Installing the PC Version of GMX SMS-Manager fixed the issue for me too. You
need to register your phone number with this software. The Android App from GMX
does not work to fix, even when registering your number.
Anyway, WebSMS is now working again on my side. Just forgot to say Thanks for
the App!

- no reinstall (websms and connector)
- no use/registration of my phone number via the SMS-Manager
- no use of the gmx-app
