SMSdroid - sms notification tone goes off twice(one immediately after one) for every received message

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. everytime receiving sms
2. any tone setting, default tone or not
3. With SMSdroid as default sms app (compulsory to set SMSdroid as default app 
inorder for it to work on kikat), and with the stock sms app enable or disable, 
the problem still exists.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect only a single tone, not going off twice for every sms as what it is 
doing now.

What version of the product are you using? "Last" is not appropriate. Make
sure you tell at least which app you are using. On what operating system?
SMSdroid 1.6.2 , websms 4.8.1 with fishtext connector 1.5.2 , kitkat 4.4.3 , 
sony xperia ultra t2 4G

Please provide any additional information below.
This problem does not happen when only using the stock sms app as default sms.

I have the same problem.

I tried to enable and disable ring rone settings for pre installed SMS app in 
global preferences. Same problem with both settings. If ring tone is activated 
in SMSdroid, the notification starts two times and every notification starts 
playing the sound. The second starts immediately after the first and stops the 
first while playing.

Android 4.4.2 on motorola razr hd.
