A rubber water bowl will be used to drink from — and will also be used as a very small kiddy pool. Metal bowls or stock tanks are right out

  • they will be crushed and destroyed in short order.

Another markdown issue. –

And, of course, you need not grow crops specifically for pigs — you can grow crops for market or for yourself, and then just feed excess (or defective) human crops to pigs.

Might want to reword the final phrase of this sentence, I had to read it several times to understand what you meant.

The advantages of free materials from restaurants, breweries, and supermarkets are (a) that they're free. The disadvantages are that (a) they're messy, (b) they do not store well, (d) they may be labor intensive (e.g., unwrapping 100 loaves of bread, or shoveling 500 lbs of wet grains mash), (e) they can generate trash (e.g., 100 empty bread bags), (f) they may attract more vermin than other options.

You skipped (c) and went straight to (d).

When pigs look for food under something, the result is not a perfectly removed stump, stacked on the burn pile, but a stump with a hole a inches deep next to it.

How many inches deep?

Raising Animals: Cattle

I was disappointed by the lack of information here. Hopefully this section will be as large as the section on Pigs in the second edition.
