My wife has a laptop and a desktop. She is a user, not a developer. She likes simple and she uses Google. The desktop system is about 16 years old. It is a Dell Inspiron 530 dating back to 2007. It has a 64 bit quad core Intel processor and 4 gb of RAM. With an sdd and good maintenance, it works well, In fact, it is snappy if using a low resource distro. I needed to do some regular maintenance this week and I decided to check on what distro might be best for her. I had tried what is now called ChromeOS Flex a few years ago when it was a product from another company but it is now owned and supported by Google. It is basically ChromeOS for amd64/x86-64 systems.

I installed it today for a test run. I must say that I am impressed. I really like the desktop. It is very simple and modern. I wish the mainstream Linux distros would copy this desktop. This is not the distro for developers but for many users, it may work well, You would have to try it to see. Hardware support was most excellent. I can't find any hardware issues due to the lack of a good driver. Update: A day after installation, the wife reports that she really likes it and I like it because I just turned the mouse and keyboard over to her after I was finished and my presense has not been requested a single time. I call this a win!

Now, what does this have to do with USB WiFi adapters? Given the nature of this site, I had to see if any of my wifi adapters would work. Interestingly, the first 3 adapters I tried worked, I mean plug and play. The chipsets in the 3 adapters are:

mt7612u (dual band) mt7610u (dual band) mt7601u (single band managed mode only - ultra cheap)

All of those chipsets are covered in the Plug and Play list. (Menu item 2)

I have numerous additional adapters that I can test if there is interest. Let me know.
