Increasing wifi signal strength and radius (beginner's question) #343

I am a newbie, I don't understand a lot of things, so my questions may seem trivial. Is there any real benefit to changing antennas on the adapter or increasing tx power? Or does it only work in combination? I have two TP-Link TL722N adapters on Atheros 9271L and ALFA AWUS036ACS. TP-Link catches badly, I tried to change the antenna from 3 dbi to 5 dbi, but did not notice any difference, ALFA is good, but I would like to increase the power and the potential to use them both to the maximum, tried to increase tx power in kali, but nothing changed. So here is the question, is there any practical benefit from changing antennas and increasing power? Is it possible to overclock the adapter to make it more efficient, are they locked for changes from the factory, or do they work at full capacity without it? If so, can you tell me how to do it or what to study?

The best RF amplifier is a high gain (directional) antenna. While increasing the TX power only works in one direction (transmitter to receiver), a high gain antenna works in both directions.

Some more information is here: https://metis.fi/en/2017/10/txpower/ https://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/267490/what-are-the-pros-and-cons-of-having-higher-lower-dbi-and-dbm

BTW: If a transmitter is overdriven, the signal always is clipping and it is going to be lousy (mostly crappy).
