wmii extremely slow #203

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Both hg2735 and hg2755 are extremely slow for me. The latest version I compiled
that had regular responsiveness was hg2683. I use debian testing.

Could it be related to libixp? Before, I always used the libixp package
provided by debian. However, the two slow versions don't compile with that, so
I compiled and installed the latest libixp-hg. Does wmii depend on libixp at
runtime, or only at compile time?

How can I find out what's causing the slowness?

Thanks and best regards.

It would help if you could find me a precise revision with 'hg bisect'. libixp
is only a compile-time dependency. At any rate, I highly doubt that it is the
problem.

Ok, hg2733 and everything below is fast, hg2734 and everything after that is
slow. Anything else I can test?

Ah. I thought that might cause issues. I'll deal with it.

Can you post the output of xdpyinfo? Also, you're not running xcompmgr, by
chance?

No, I don't use xcompmgr. Output of xdpyinfo is attached.

I feel like I also noticed a significant slowdown since i upgraded to
wmii-hg2759 and the latest libixp, If there is any info I can provide, I will
