RobotiumRC - Support latest Robotium(5.x) #570

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Robotium 5.x changed the package name, we are not longer just replace the
source jar file and rebuild test runner to use latest Robotium.

Please support the latest one.

Thanks a lot

We do recognize the package renaming and other changes put into Robotium 5.x
breaks all users--including Remote Control. And we know there needs to be some
enhancements done to incorporate any of the new features or functions that
might apply to Remote Control.

We do not have a timetable yet for having this work completed.

Users wishing to use any fixes provided in Robotium 5.x without using any new
features might be able to use 5.x by modifying the necessary imports in the
already-provided source in the TestRunner(s). This course has not been tried
or evaluated and is very dependent upon how much of the API remains intact
separate from changing the 5.x package names.

We will update this ticket as soon as we have more information or a proposed
completion date.

Hi Carl,
Do you have any updates for this ticket?

I have just finished the process of modifying existing source to accommodate
the package name migration introduced by Robotium 5.0.1. This does not *yet*
include adding any new support for new functionality or APIs introduced by
Robotium 5.0.1.

Testing of these changes and documenting the overall impact on Remote Control
tests written for earlier versions of Robotium will happen over the next few
weeks.

If users wish to receive a ZIP of the untested and undocumented migration
artifacts for their own evaluation they may write to us offline
(safsdev@sas.com) and we will attempt to accommodate the request.

It should be noted: to reduce the refactoring impact on existing users and
tests any new upcoming release of Remote Control will only support the Robotium
5.0.1 codebase and later. Robotium 4.3 and earlier support will not exist in
new releases. However, the older release of Remote Control will remain
available for those continuing to use Robotium 4.3.

I believe we are finally there.

I have pushed a new (and final?) Release Candidate for Robotium Remote Control
supporting Robotium 5.1. Install testing on Mac OS X and Windows has been
successful.

andidate/

Please let us know at RDT SAFS-Support (safsdev@sas.com) if you have any issues
installing or using this Release.
