Big math can be done without calling back to MySQL, and this is preferable.

With a thread_stack of 128K, "Thread stack overrun" was thrown in the
binary_log_space calculation.

This is fixed in SVN, in issue 48.

Check your binlogs, though, because binlog.index may be out of sync.
