i need to change the header part of the rainbow portal by some other 
pictures

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
version 2.0.0.1881. windows xp

so do it :-)
it all up to "theme" - a directory with *.css files
check zen_example theme for example

u need 
#portaltitle and 
div.header-image
for title
