LBP2900 Cannot Print from Zorin OS (x86 32-bit) #4

This is a supplementary issue to accompany #3, which may or may not be related. Other printers may be affected as well. Please check #3 for the full story.

Any user with an LBP3010 (including regional variants 3018 or 3050) or LBP3000 with difficulties getting captdriver to work on 32-bit x86 (i686) flavours of Zorin OS is welcome to comment here as well.

Just letting the readers know that the LBP3000 failed to print during preliminary testing with Zorin OS 15.3. The Education Lite x86 32-bit edition was used during testing. A live media session was used; the operating system was not installed and no package updates, apart from the bare minimum required to set up the build environment, were performed.

Zorin OS 15.3 Education Lite (32-bit) uses CUPS 2.2.7 and libusb 1.0.21
