What keeps you excited about working on the web? #15

What things are exciting to you, and why did you chose to work on the web?

I got into web dev 12 years ago — I needed a website for my music band, so I learned HTML & CSS to do it on my own, and then realized that I can use these skills to get a job.

I'm excited about working on the Web because it gives a lot of freedom to what you can build, and the work is visible to everyone (unlike backend work which is often underappreciated). The Web Platform is the best in terms of time invested / outcome for a particular project — you can builds amazing things in a very short amount of time.

It's also really enjoyable to see it move so fast, with new awesome technologies coming up every day. You have to continuously adapt and learn new things to stay qualified. I like experimenting and learning things, and I love working on this that are visual and that can be beautiful — maps, visualizations, etc.
