How do you learn? #17

I'm curious to hear how you continue to build upon your skill set... so:

How do you learn best (physical environment, resources, starting points, etc.)? In particular, if/when you hit road blocks, how do you get through them?

I dive straight into a project and learn along the way. If I want to learn a technology, I'll just come up with a cool pet project and start hacking (looking at docs and other people's code, googling if I get stuck). When you're enthusiastic and curious and love the subject, learning is really easy and enjoyable.

When it comes to road blocks, pretty much any answer can be found online if you search well enough. But if not, luckily I have very talented coworkers and programmer friends, so I can always ask for help. If even that doesn't help, I'll just switch context and work on something else.
