Assume identical errors on every DNS is a tool artifact #266
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run namebench on 205.171.3.25, 205.171.3.65, 205.171.2.65, 205.171.3.25,
74.82.42.42
2. Look at the resulting messages, most of which are identical over every
tested server.
3.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The output is simply incredibly noisy. There are dozens of "errors" per
server, and most of them are exactly the same for every server.
The suggestion is this: if namebench thinks that the result for site X "may be
incorrect," and yet every DNS server is reporting the same result, then it's
probably namebench's problem, not the servers'.
You could add an option checkbox either to suppress or reveal this group of
"errors," whichever you think is the most meaningful result. (I'd vote for
suppression by default. That way, we could much more easily see how and to what
extent the servers actually DIFFER, assuming they do. Also, the developers
could see what tests consistently fail, and either correct or replace them.)
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Latest (1.3.1) on Mac OS X 10.8.5
