@moxboxwa same request for clarification as Marysville: Your request states any and all RMS data fields. We interpret this to mean any/all data fields contained within the Incident records and not all data fields within our RMS. Due to limitations of our data extracts we are unable to provide all possible incident data fields in a single data pull. If you can please review the provided information and let us know if you would like us to proceed with additional data pulls for other available data fields within the Incident records of our RMS, or if the data provided meets your needs.

(Copied from email) Me: Okay, this is super weird. Arlington's response is word-for-word identical to Marysville. So they are definitely in contact w/each other about our request. Or they use the same RMS or public records officer? Their dataset also has the same categories (attached). In any event, see my suggestions for how to apply to Marysville. Same suggestions here. This is interesting. The data elements are the same too. I’m guessing they may use the same vendor. BTW, I think it would be better to C&P this to Github and continue the conversation there. That would help keep everything in one place…

See Marysville #38 for suggested response

@moxboxwa Data fields have been provided for us to review so we can indicate to them which data we need.

@hejokelly wowzer!! So.Many.Fields... in the list they sent

I'm wondering if this system is used primarily for collecting/submitting data to the NIBRS crime data progam. Few of the fields are relevant to VP incidents, and almost none of the VP incident properties of interest are included.

That said, the data they sent in this file contain VP relevant fields that are NOT included in that long list.

So I'm assuming they have multiple RMSs. We're probably not interested in the NIBRS-like system. We are definitely interested in the VP relevant system, and the question is whether they have additional fields in that system that they did not share with us.

@moxboxwa I've written them back asking: "Thank you for providing those additional files. I do have a follow-up question. I've reviewed the list of data fields that you collect (attached) and compared it to fields at the top of the document titled "DATA COLLECTION 2021-2023". There are fields in the "DATA COLLECTION" document that do not appear on the data fields list you provided. For example, I see "VP: Aborted" and "VP: Accident occurred" on the DATA COLLECTION doc, but none of those VP codes appear in the data fields list. Can you provide a list of all the data fields related to vehicle pursuits (e.g. the "VP" fields) so we can see what types of data are collected in those cases?"

@moxboxwa they have responded: In response to your follow-up inquiry, the discrepancy in the data fields arises from the fact that the information presented in the two documents (Data Collection 2021-2023 and Data Fields) originates from two distinct and separate data collection programs. The "Data Collection 2021-2023" program is utilized by our agency specifically for in-house tracking purposes, wherein the Arlington Police Department inputs data related to reported vehicle pursuits (VP). Conversely, the "Data Fields" document indicates fields within our Records Management System, encompassing all incidents that occur within our jurisdiction. This system includes comprehensive data fields relevant to any type of incident. It is important to note that these two systems do not integrate with one another, which accounts for the differences in the displayed fields.
