Add capacity to generate passwords #554

Open YannBrrd opened 5 years ago

YannBrrd commented 5 years ago

Hi,

First thanks for the job.

It would be nice to add a "generate strong password capacity", whenever a site is not known.

(Sorry if dup, did not find it).

Regards, Yann

Appreciate this is a meta.

Would be lovely to add support for Safari style password generation hints and password rules.

open ./Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SafariCore.framework/WBSAutoFillQuirks.plist

Also may be relevant, toolkit bugs:

Yup, definitely needed.

Would love, love, love this feature. One of the only things making Google's password management more appealing atm

Razoralpha commented 4 years ago

This should not be an enhancement but certainly a core feature.

primalmotion commented 4 years ago

Not having this feature really makes Lockwise a half baked password manager. Also the fact that you can't edit them from iOS doesn't help too.

aqaboy commented 4 years ago

I can't believe this is still missing...

Niroa95 commented 4 years ago

This is a missing feature that is really important. In computer Firefox works perfectly fine, storing and generating secure passwords, but the option to generate a password on the app itself is missing. This feature is what makes Lockwise usable on the go, a lot of times I create new accounts on apps and it is a headache that you can't generate them on the go.

When I'm signing up for an app, and I have my privacy minded adult thinking hat on - I want to use a secure, unique, password per app/login

I was thrown aback when I couldn't find the "generate password" feature on the Android app - I assumed it was because I hadn't looked hard enough...

But after googling, here I am - very surprised this wasn't a day one feature. What's the alternative? Generate a password on desktop, add login details, wait for the app to sync, then try and go from there? Not very user friendly!

I do hope this feature is added so I can move away from the rat's nest of password tech debt I have currently

these apps may help (alternative solution for now)

Any updates?

I am leaving LastPass for Lockwise since I am a Firefox user. I was happy with everything but the app (aside from crashing) not having that option is a bit frustrating.

Same, everything else is tolerable except for this. Unfortunately, the project looks dead with no newly implemented features in the past 12 months so I have low hopes that this feature will come in the near future.

I need this also. should be pretty easy to add from the ff browser,

Is the project really dead? Really love this product aside from missing this particular feature.

dannydarvish commented 3 years ago

I am +1-ing this. This severely affects Lockwise's usability, along with the ability to manually generate password for user-added credentials.

dirkson commented 3 years ago

This is needed. The lack of action on this makes lockwise look like a dead project. Which is annoying because I just switched to it.

My experience as a user of Firefox and Lockwise:

I ran an experiment to see if I could switch from Chrome to Firefox across all my accounts and devices. The experiment ran for a month. I loved pretty much everything about Firefox. The two things missing were automatic form filling (addresses and such) and automatic password generation on Android.

The lack of password generation on Android is the one thing that made it a deal breaker. I'm now back to using Chrome, not because I want to, but because without random password generation on Android, I'm forced to use something else (like Chrome) to generate a random password. At that point, I might as well continue using it.

YannBrrd commented 3 years ago

As i want to avoid chrome* I'm using this meanwhile

+1 would be useful to have a password generator in lockwise
