Fail Authenication login #829

The Firefox account can be bound to a specific email adress that is private. Also the alternative email. Both being validated and setup.

When trying to login on Lockbox App for iPhone one need a Authentication app setup. For example googles own authentication app.

But the Lockbox App won't recognize the authentication due of the a private email. And not the google email connected. So how on earth do one sign in if you don’t want to change primary email on Firefox to google.

How about to implement a section in the settings for trusted alternative emails to authenticate with for that purpose?

@DQF the Lockbox app does not require you to have 2FA (two factor authentication) set up on your Firefox Account, thus we do not require you to use a Authenciation (TOTP) code/app.

Are you possibly describing the Firefox Accounts screen that, after entering your email and password, asks you for a confirmation code? That 6-8 digit code should sent to your email and not require Google-based emails nor an authenticator app.

Does that explain your situation? If not can you please help detail the steps you're following and even provide the messages/screen(shot)s your seeing and how it's not as expected? Thank you for your feedback!

I use the same logins as to my firefox account. After that it is asking me to start the authentication app with the 6 digits. And I can’t get past this screen.

Hey @DQF

Curious, which screen do you see when you are prompted for a code to login?

1) Screen with 2FA authenticator app:

2) Screen where code is emailed:

If you see 1), then 2FA was setup an enabled on your account via steps here or here. If you are unsure when it was enabled, we send an email notification about it.

If you see 2), it implies that you don't have 2FA setup on your account. We do this as an extra step since we detected a login from a new device/app and want to confirm via email that it is really you.

Start

My mail for firefox

My passform for Firefox

Authenticator screen shows up.

And I can’t authenticate something that is not connected.
