Firefox toolbar displays old URL after copying it #16232

Open SwampyApple opened 1 year ago

SwampyApple commented 1 year ago

Steps to reproduce

Navigate to a webpage and copy the URL. Then continue navigating to different pages. The URL shown in the toolbar will be the old URL which was copied previously, which needs to be dismissed by pressing the < symbol.

Expected behavior

The shown URL is consistent with the shown page.

Actual behavior

If a URL is copied it will remain the shown URL until dismissed. This can lead to confusion when copying and pasting links while browsing.

This probably relates to issue mentionned in https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-ios/issues/16167

@abodea are you able to reproduce this?

I now also see the same behavior with Firefox 119 on MacOS. It makes me frequently send old/wrong URLs. I noticed the magnifying glass / search glass icon was active and wouldn't dismiss.

I've replicated the issue where the URL updates under the focused state. Dismissing the focus when navigating back and forth might be a viable solution.
