[Tab tray refactor] YT video keeps playing after switching from normal to private browsing (and viceversa) #18712

Prerequisites

Go to FF secret settings ---> Experiments ---> enable “Rollout of tab tray refactor - iOS" feature.

Steps to reproduce

  1. In normal tabs tray, open Youtube and play a video.
  2. Switch to private browsing/synced tabs section and observe.

Expected behavior The YT video should stop playing when leaving normal tabs tray.

Actual behavior YT video keeps playing in background after leaving normal browsing mode and going to private browsing /synced tabs.

Device & build information

Notes The same issue occurs while playing a YT video in a private tab and switching to normal browsing mode. Attachments:

This issue still reproduces using FF v9000 (41668) and iPhone 15+ (17.4.1)

This one is happening even without the tab tray refactor. It is not a regression. It is basically by design (because we have the undo). Orla Mitchell mentioned we can redesign tab management to solve this issue, but I won’t consider it a blocker to release Tab Tray. I will leave it open for now.
