[Experiment] The New User Survey is not triggered on iOS devices

[Notes]:

• Based on our research it would appear that “number_of_app_launches” is currently defined for the Android app only, which might explain why it currently has no effect and doesn’t work as expected on iOS.

[Affected versions]:

• Firefox Release 126.0 (41006).

• Firefox Release 125.0 (40715).

[Affected Platforms]:

• iOS 16.2 - iPhone 12 Pro.

• iOS 15.8 - iPad Air 2.

[Preconditions]:

• The user is enrolled in the “New User Survey iOS – April 2024 (125)” experiment if Firefox Release > 125.0 is used; or in the “New User Survey iOS - April 2024 (122-124)” experiment if Firefox Release 122 - 124 is used instead.

[Steps to reproduce]:

1. Open the Firefox app;
2. Force quit and reopen the Firefox app (this should set the number of app launches = 2);
3. Observe the behavior.

[Expected result]:

• The New User Survey is triggered and displayed to the user.

[Actual result]:

• Nothing happens. The application is reopened as normal without triggering the Survey.

Hi Alexandru Bejenaru just a quick update that the iOS team is planning to deploy the “number_of_app_launches” in the next weekly release (next week) so we should be able to test it then.

Hello. I have verified this issue using Firefox Release 126.0 (41214) and was unable to reproduce it anymore. We will perform another verification once this is merged in Firefox Release 125 as well. Thank you for the heads-up Cyndi Chin!

Hello. I have re-verified this issue using Firefox Release 125.3 (41348) on an iPhone 12 Pro (iOS 16.2) and was unable to reproduce it.
