Google News links must be clicked twice to open

Steps

1. Open news.google.com
2. Click any headline link or an article photo

Expected: the website navigates to the article/link destination

Actual: nothing happens. If you click a 2nd time, the link opens in a new tab if user is in normal browsing, or the current tab if in private browsing

• So far Google News is the only site I’ve been able to replicate this on, it possibly has something to do with how their JS is configured
• Needs some additional investigation to quantify user impact.

I see the same behavior on Safari, and additionally Google News is the only site I can repro on. This doesn’t appear to be client bug. Going to close for now.
